I went to Bintan druing CNY. It was great. However everything there is so expensive. They charge us in Sing dollars. However, the place is beautiful and the people are friendly. No sign of people smokin either. The only place of shopping if the Pasar Oleh-Oleh. And things there are not that cheap either but the food there is nice. Delicious for a real Indonesian cooking. The small "mama shop" there is cheap too. I could get a bottle of mineral water and a can of coke for less than 6500 rupiah. The currency exchange rate there is S$1 = 6500 Rupiah. Means it costs less than a dollar.
Transport wise is costly. There isnt any public transport and the only means of tansportation is by taxi. And it costs minimum S$45 for two hours. Well, I heard that the resorts are managed by Sinaporean. Maybe that's why its expensive.
The ferry ride was horrible. Im sea sick. On the way there from Singapore, even before the ferry embarked, I already felt the giddiness. Just kepy quiet, not talking to anyone. One hand holding the palstic bag given, the other hand holdin the medicated oil. But on the ride home from Bintan, it was alright. Only until the ferry reached Spore territorical waters then I started to feel the woozy feelin again. My dad ask the captain, he said that Spore waves and currents are strong. That is why people often felt giddy. Overall, it was great experience I had.
